    Podcasts for Teachers

I’ve been on a total podcast kick lately, and I wanted to share a few teacher podcasts that I’ve been faithfully listening to over the past few years, as well as a few that I’ve recently discovered. For me, education podcasts are another form of professional development, except I actually like this PD! As teachers, we are also life-long learners. I truly feel as though I’ve learned so many useful classroom management and instructional strategies and just general “make-your-teaching-life-easier” tips from these podcasts, so I felt obligated to share them with you!

    Wednesday Wishlist | Spring Essentials

Sunshine. Peace and quiet. A good book. No alarm clock. A margarita (or two). Can you imagine it? I’m so over the rain and cold that we’ve been getting in South Louisiana, and I’m so ready for some sunshine and some time off from school. So, today, we’re just going to ignore the fact that Spring Break is more than 6 weeks away, and dream about pastels, swimsuits, and lots of sweet spring sandals. Today’s Wednesday Wishlist includes all the things that you need to relax and enjoy your Spring Break! Happy shopping (and dreaming of warmer days and spring break)!

Student – Led Strategy: Fishbowl Discussion

The most effective lessons that I’ve taught are the ones where I hardly have to say anything at all. It’s so important for me to give my students a chance to express their understanding every single day —whether that be through speaking or through writing.

Student led discussions, or Socratic discussions, have been the best fit for my style of teaching and have been the most effective in allowing students to speak about the complexities of and real-world connections to complex texts.

Local Love: Body Sculpt Barre Prairieville

I thought my students do a pretty good job of keeping me on my toes, but then I walked into Body Sculpt Barre for a blogger barre class this past Sunday and they took it to an entirely new level. I’m not in the best shape I’ve ever been in, but I do try to make exercising a priority to take care of my health and reduce stress. This 45-minute express routine was super challenging, yet one of the most fun workouts I’ve ever done.
